Fármaco isómero de la hipoxantina utilizado en el tratamiento de la hiperuricemia. Es un potente inhibidor de la xantina oxidasa al competir con su sustrato que es la hipoxantina y por lo tanto actúa como antioxidante disminuyemdo las concentraciones altas de ácido úrico en la sangre.
