CUERDA DEL TÍMPANO

                                                                                 
   Chorda tympani: nervio que nace del nervio facial (VII par craneal) justo antes del agujero estilo-mastoideo. Atraviesa el oído medio estando en relación con la membrana timpánica (de ahí su nombre). Sale del cráneo a través de la fisura petro-timpánica y penetra en la fosa infra-temporal (fosa pterigo-maxilar). Ya en esta fosa se une con el nervio lingual para su distribucion. El nervio lingual es una rama del nervio trigémino (V par craneal). La cuerda timpánica posee fibras gustativas de la membrana mucosa que cubre el piso de la cavidad bucal y los 2/3 anteriores de la lengua. También contiene fibras parasimpáticas pre sinápticas o pre- ganglionares secreto-motoras que hacen sinapsis en el ganglio sub-mandibular. A partir de este ganglio salen las fibras post-sinápticas o post-ganglionares dirigidas a las glándulas sub-mandibular y sub-linguales.rama intrapetrosa del nervio facial que tras recorrer la caja del tímpano se anastomosa con el nervio lingual.
 
   <(F): Corde du tympan ou du tambour: on désigne sous ce nom un filet nerveux, que la portion dure de la septième paire de nerfs fournit pendant son trajet dans l'aqueduc de Fallope; il pénètre dans la caisse du tympan, à peu de distance du trou stylo-mastoïdien, la traverse et en sort par la scissure de Glaser.
 
   <(Ing): Chorda tympani, radix parasympathica ganglii submandibularis, cord of tympanum, parasympathetic root of submandibular ganglion, tympanichord: a nerve given off from the facial nerve in the facial canal that passes through the posterior canaliculus of the chorda tympani into the tympanic cavity, crosses over the tympanic membrane and handle of the malleus, and passes out through the anterior canaliculus of the chorda tympani in the petrotympanic fissure to join the lingual branch of the mandibular nerve in the infratemporal fossa; it conveys taste sensation from the anterior two thirds of the tongue and carries parasympathetic preganglionic fibers to the submandibular ganglion, for innervation of the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands.
