DISFUNCION TEMPOROMANDIBULAR

 

   Perturbación del sistema masticatorio en relación con la articulación aludida que se manifiesta por una serie de síntomas: dolor, molestias, malestar, espasmo muscular, en la zona mandibular y sus proximidades (dolor facial, temporal, retrorbital), así como dolores en la región de la cabeza-cuello, dolor, dificultad, con o sin sensación de ruido, para masticar, tragar, abrir la boca, sensación de congestión en el oído, ruidos en la cabeza.Sinónimos: síndrome temporomandibular.
 
   <(F): Dysfonction de l´articulation temporomandibulair: désigne les problèmes d’articulation temporo-mandibulaire.
 
   <(Ing): Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome: a symptom complex consisting of pain, muscle tenderness, clicking in the joint, and limitation or alteration of mandibular movement. The symptoms are subjective and manifested primarily in the masticatory muscles rather than the temporomandibular joint itself. Etiologic factors are uncertain but include occlusal dysharmony and psychophysiologic factors.
