Órgano glandular, pequeño, rojizo y situado en la silla turca y pendiente del cerebro por un pedículo o tallo pituitario. Consta de dos lóbulos: anterior o adenohipófisis y el posterior o neurohipófisis. Sinónimos: Cuerpo o glándula pituitarios.
