Nasus: estructura del aparato respiratorio formada por la pirámide nasal y las cavidades nasales y que contiene el órgano olfatorio.

<(A.): Nase: die spezialisierte Struktur des Gesichts, die sowohl als Geruchsorgan als auch als Mittel zur Luftzufuhr in die Lunge dient. Die Nasenlöcher, die den äußeren Eingang der Nase bilden, führen in die beiden Nasenhöhlen, die durch die Nasenscheidewand, eine aus Knorpel und Knochen gebildete Trennwand, voneinander getrennt sind. Von der Außenwand jeder Nasenhöhle ragen drei knöcherne Grate ab, die die Höhle teilweise in drei Luftkanäle unterteilen. An der Rückseite der Nase münden diese Gänge in den Rachenraum. Die Gänge sind außerdem durch Öffnungen mit den Nasennebenhöhlen verbunden. Eine der Funktionen der Nase ist der Abfluss von Flüssigkeiten, die aus den Nebenhöhlen abfließen. Die Nasenhöhlen haben auch eine Verbindung mit den Ohren durch die eustachischen Röhren und mit dem Bereich der Augen durch die nasolakrimalen Gänge.

The nostrils, which form the external entrance of the nose, lead into the two nasal cavities, which are separated from each other by the nasal septum, a partition formed of cartilage and bone. Three bony ridges project from the outer wall of each nasal cavity and partially divide the cavity into three air passages. At the back of the nose these passages lead into the pharynx. The passages also are connected by openings with the paranasal sinuses. One of the functions of the nose is to drain fluids discharged from the sinuses. The nasal cavities also have a connection with the ears by the eustachian tubes, and with the region of the eyes by the nasolacrimal ducts.
