Cilio único, situado en la periferia de un manojo de 80 a 120 esterocilios, en el ápice de la célula sensorial vestibular. Su estructura es de túbulos centrales con nueve filamentos periféricos. Es el más largo de los cilios del manojo ciliar de la célula sensorial del epitelio de la cresta ampollar y de las máculas otolíticas y penetra profundamente en la cúpula. Nace en la zona marginal de la superficie celular que carece sustancia cuticular, a la altura de un corpúsculo basal, homólogo del centrosoma celular. Es menos rígido que los esterocilios, con excepción del segmento inicial. Sinónimos: Kinocilio, cinetocilio.
