Art. cerebri media: rama terminal de la carótida interna. Profundiza en la cisura de Silvio para dirigirse hacia la ìnsula de Reil; es encargada de la irrigación de casi la totalidad de la cara externa del hemisferio cerebral. Sus ramos perforantes son importantísimos; son llamadas arterias talamoestriadas y se dividen en un grupo interno y otro externo. Una de las del grupo externo generalmente la mas larga y externa, experimenta rotura con tanta frecuencia que se ha llamado "arteria de la hemorragia cerebral" o arteria de Charcot.
<(F): Artère cérébrale moyenne: est la branche la plus importante de l'artère carotide interne. Elle se ramifie pour assurer l'apport de sang oxygéné dans le cerveau. Ces branches sont fréquemment impliquées dans les hémorragies cérébrales.

Location: dorsal-lateral surface of frontal, parietal and superior temporal lobes. Function: supplies blood to central-lateral aspect of cerebral hemispheres.
