Son dos pares de pequeños nódulos ovoides cartilaginosos cuya presencia es inconstante. Por su situación son anteriores y posteriores. Los sesamoideos anteriores están situados en la escotadura tiroidea del CT junto al ángulo entrante y se encuentran en el espesor de los ligamentos tiro-aritenoideos inferiores. Los sesamoideos posteriores son más voluminoso que los anteriores y están situados un poco por encima y por fuera de los cartílagos corniculados. Están insertos por minúsculos ligamentos al borde externo del cartílago aritenoides y al de Santorini.
<(A): Sesamknorpel des Kehlkopfes: Es handelt sich um zwei Paare kleiner eiförmiger Knorpelknötchen, deren Anwesenheit nicht konstant ist. Aufgrund ihrer Lage sind sie anterior und posterior. Die vorderen Sesamoide befinden sich in der Schilddrüsenkerbe des CT neben dem Eintrittswinkel und liegen in der Dicke der unteren Schilddrüsen-Arenoid-Bänder. Die hinteren Sesamoide sind größer als die vorderen und befinden sich etwas oberhalb und außerhalb der Hornhautknorpel. Sie werden durch winzige Bänder am äußeren Rand der Aritenoiden und Santorin-Knorpel eingesetzt.
