Tira fibromuscular inconstante que suele estar presente cuando la glándula tiroides tiene lóbulo piramidal y que se extiende desde el istmo hasta el hueso hioides o hasta el cartílago tiroides. Está inervado por una rama del nervio laríngeo superior. Esta estructura es importante pues en su extremo puede haber restos del conducto tirogloso.
