ARTERIA PALATINA DESCENDENTE

 
   Art. palatina descendens: rama colateral de la arteria maxilar interna, desciende por el conducto palatino posterior y se distribuye por el velo del paladar y la bóveda palatina.
   Sinónimos: arteria palatina superior.
 
   <(F): Artère palatine supérieure: elle naît de la maxillaire interne tout au fond de la fosse ptérygo-maxillaire et descend aussitôt dans le canal palatin postérieur ; arrivée à l'orifice intérieur de ce canal, elle se réfléchit et se dirige horizontalement en avant entre la voûte et la muqueuse palatines très sinueuse, elle trace de profondes gouttières sur le palais osseux. Sa branche principale chemine dans la gouttière osseuse qui longe le bord alvéolaire, jusqu'au conduit palatin antérieur dans lequel elle envole un rameau (rameau nasal), qui s'anastomose avec la terminaison de la sphéno-palatine (artère de la cloison); elle donne des rameaux gingivaux et alvéolaires. Peu après son origine, avant de s'engager dans le conduit palatin postérieur, la palatine supérieure fournit des rameaux staphylins qui pénètrent par les conduits palatins accessoires et se distribuent aux muscles. à la muqueuse, et à l'épaisse couche glandulaire de la voûte du palais, jusqu'à l'orifice de la trompe.
 
   <(Ing): Descending palatine artery: according to Terminologia Anatomica, the descending palatine artery branches into the greater palatine artery and lesser palatine arteries. It descends through the pterygopalatine canal with the anterior palatine branch of the sphenopalatine ganglion, and, emerging from the greater palatine foramen, runs forward in a groove on the medial side of the alveolar border of the hard palate to the incisive canal; the terminal branch of the artery passes upward through this canal to anastomose with the sphenopalatine artery. Branches are distributed to the gums, the palatine glands, and the mucous membrane of the roof of the mouth; while in the pterygopalatine canal it gives off twigs which descend in the lesser palatine canals to supply the soft palate and palatine tonsil, anastomosing with the ascending palatine artery.
