GANGLIOSIDOS.

 
   Glucolípido formado por ácidos grasos, esfingosina, hexosas, hexosamina,  y ácido siálico o N-acilneuramínico.
 
   <(F.): Gangliosides: famille de lipides membranaires appartenant au groupe des sphingolipides (synthétisés à partir du céramide) et comportant une chaîne oligosaccharidique dont au moins un ose acide (N-acétylneuraminate ou N-glycosylneuraminate, dénommés acides sialiques). Ces lipides sont des constituants de la couche externe des membranes plasmiques, notamment dans les neurones, la chaîne glucidique ornant la surface cellulaire.
 
   <(In.): Gangliosides: are the group of glycosphingolipids that show the greatest structural variation and also the more complex structure. Except some echinoderms, gangliosides are characteristic of vertebrate nervous tissues. This group includes molecules composed of ceramide linked by a glycosidic bond to an oligosaccharide chain containing hexose and N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA, acidic sugar known also as sialic acid) units.
