<(In): Superior vestibular nerve: is one of the three branches that form the vestibular nerve. This in turn originates from the fusion of three branches: the utricular nerve, which is the thickest, the superior ampullary nerve and the external ampullary nerve. All three branches pass through the utricular fossa. The utricular nerve is the thickest branch, passes through the cribriform spot of the semiovoid fossa and is distributed through the utricular macula on the inferior aspect of the utricle. The superior and external ampullary nerves pass through the supero-external ampullary cribriform spot anterior to the semiovoid fossa and terminate at the corresponding ampullary ridges.
