OPISTOTONOS

   Posición de hiperextensión corporal debida a un espasmo muscular intenso de los músculos erectores espinales, y prolongado, que hace que la espalda se arquee de forma marcada, la cabeza se desplace hacia atrás sobre el cuello, los talones se inclinen posteriormente sobre las piernas y los brazos y las manos se flexionen.
 
   <(A.):Opisthotonus: es handelt sich um einen  Krampf in vor allem der Streckmuskulatur des Rückens. Er führt zu einer starken Rückwärtsneigung des Kopfes und zur Überstreckung von Rumpf und Extremitäten.
 
   <(F.): Opisthotonos:  contracture importante localisée sur la face postérieure, qui donnent au corps un maintien caractéristique.
 
   <(In.): Opisthotonos: A great rigid spasm of the body, with the back fully arched and the heels and head bent back. Opisthotonos occurs in meningitis, especially in infants, due to irritation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It also occurs with depressed brain function and injury to the brain. Opisthotonos is an ominous neurologic sign.
